Pakistan: Tobacco Procurement Price Increases

ISLAMABAD: Ministry of Commerce on Wednesday approved increase in tobacco procurement price by Rs 5 per kilogramme (kg) to benefit the tobacco growers in Khyber Pukhtunkhwa and minimum per kg tobacco price have now increased from Rs 117 per kg to Rs 121 per kg. State Minister for Commerce, Abbas Khan Afridi informed this decision has been taken during meeting with tobacco growers delegation headed by Amir Khan. With the increase in tobacco price, the representatives of the tobacco growers from Khyber Pukhtunkhwa called off their ongoing strike on tobacco price issue. The increase in minimum tobacco price would help increase the maximum price from Rs 125 per kg to Rs 140 per kg. Enditem
