China: Provincial Corporation Sends Delegation to Visit Tobacco Producing County

Fujian Provincial Tobacco Corporation in southeast China’s Fujian Province sent a delegation led by Deputy Chief Zhang Wenshui of its Leaf Tobacco Division to visit Luoping County in southwest China’s tobacco-producing Yunnan Province on July 10, where the delegation was shown around the site of construction of a zone for demonstration of modernization of leaf tobacco production modes.

During the stay in Luoping County, the delegation respectively visited the 10,000-mu (666.7-hectare) high-quality contiguous tobacco growing area, sites of construction of infrastructure for leaf tobacco production, Yimin Farm Machinery Specialized Cooperative, Double Happiness Flue-Cured Tobacco Cooperative and Yifeng Tobacco Farm Machinery 4S Shop. Deputy Manager Wang Chaozuo of Luoping County Tobacco Subcompany elaborately introduced to the delegation the planning of Luoping County for basic tobacco fields, soil preparation, the construction of the “Ten Major Projects” of modernization of leaf tobacco production modes, in the county, etc. At Yimin Farm Machinery Specialized Cooperative and Double Happiness Flue-Cured Tobacco Cooperative in Luoxiong Township, the delegation examined with great interest the rotary cultivators, transplanters, mulch applicators, leaf pickers and other farm machinery on show there, elaborately asking about the types, quantity, prices, operation efficiency, etc of the various types of farm machinery. The delegation also conducted in-depth exchange of opinions with Director Yuan Yanfeng of Yimin Farm Machinery Specialized Cooperative and Director Weng Jianxiong of Double Happiness Flue-Cured Tobacco Cooperative on the establishment, operation, management, etc of the cooperatives. Through the visit, the delegation was able to have in-depth understanding of the construction of a zone for demonstration of modernization of leaf tobacco production modes in Luoping County.
