China: County Holds Meeting on Planning for Infrastructure for Tobacco Production

Luoping County of Qujing City in southwest China’s tobacco-producing Yunnan Province held on June 29 a meeting on the work of planning for executing projects of building support infrastructure facilities for tobacco production in the county in 2013, making specific arrangements for the work of planning and application for the construction of infrastructure facilities for tobacco production at the Agang projects area in the county. At the meeting, relevant technicians with the county water conservation bureau made detailed explanation of the project of land preparation, planning for and designing of support projects for infrastructure facilities construction, financial budgets and other projects of construction at the Agang projects area. The participants in the meeting conducted discussions and revisions of the planning for and designing of projects at the projects area. It was pointed out at the meeting that in 2013, Luoping County will combine the work of land preparation and execution of projects of building support infrastructure facilities for tobacco production with efforts to establish the “Golden Corridor” ecological characteristic leaf tobacco production base and develop a modern tobacco agriculture in the county, in order that execution of the projects of construction will attach the goal of “planning for the development of the whole region, realizing construction of new projects in the whole region and giving play to the roles of the whole region.” It was emphasized at the meeting that in 2013, the schedule for the execution of projects of building support infrastructure facilities for tobacco production will be tight, and the tasks in this endeavor will be heavy. It urged the competent departments concerned to continue doing a good job of planning and designing, making supplements and improvements to materials of investment, funding and budgeting, promptly make changes and improvements to the policies and processes of executing the projects of building support infrastructure facilities for tobacco production and the relevant materials, and complete preparation of the application documentation for official approval within the prescribed time limit, to ensure smooth progress in the execution of the projects of building support infrastructure facilities for tobacco production in the county.
