Lack of Rain Puts A Damper on Karnataka Plantings

Insufficient rainfall in the tobacco-growing regions of Karnataka, India, is threatening the production of flue-cured, according to a New India Express story relayed by the TMA and quoting state agricultural officials. So far, the area planted to flue-cured is down from the targeted 100,000 ha to 65,000 ha. But the regional director of the Tobacco Board, K. N.
