China: Hongta Group Deputy CEO Inspects Organic Leaf Tobacco Production

Deputy CEO Zhang Jianhua of Hongta Group in southwest China's tobacco-producing Yunnan Province - a leading Chinese tobacco manufacturer - conducted on-site inspection over organic leaf tobacco production at the organic tobacco growing base in Shunshan Village in Chaoyang District of Zhaotong City despite a drizzle on June 19, presiding over a symposium on organic leaf tobacco production there. Accompanying Zhang Jianhua on the inspection were Deputy Chairman Zhao Hongguai of Zhaotong City Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, Secretary-General Li Xun of the municipal government of Zhaotong and other local government leaders. In an address delivered during the inspection, Zhang Jianhua said that organic leaf tobacco production is a major raw materials guarantee for supporting the drive of Hongta Group to realize breakthrough in the development of high-end cigarette products, which will be playing a crucial role in improving the image and enhancing the competitiveness of brands of Hongta Group. Since the start of growing of organic leaf tobacco in the local region in 2010, the Chinese Communist Party Zhaotong City Committee, the municipal government of Zhaotong City and Zhaotong City Tobacco Subcompany have attached great importance and extended great support, contributing to accumulating certain experience in terms of production technology and management, Zhang Jianhua said, expressing the belief that the work of organic leaf tobacco production management in Zhaotong City will be done better and better, and that Zhaotong City will be able to supply more high-quality leaf tobacco for Hongta Group. Speaking on the same occasion, Li Xun briefly introduced the production of leaf tobacco and cigarettes in Zhaotong City, and said that Zhaotong City, in the capacity of a core raw materials supply base for Hongta Group, assumes the task of guaranteeing the supply of 250,000 dan (12,500 tons) of leaf tobacco for five base units of Hongta Group.
