China: Provincial Corporation Strengthens Management of Organic Tobacco Seedlings Development

The taskforce designated by China Tobacco Guizhou Provincial Industrial Co., Ltd. in southwest China's Guizhou Province to conduct research for organic tobacco seedlings development for the production of strong aromatic organic leaf tobacco has adopted multiple measures to strengthen the management of organic tobacco seedlings development, in the start of the annual tobacco seedlings development season. In efforts to highlight the aromatic style of sufficiency and steadiness of tobacco grown in the strong aromatic tobacco production base units established by China Tobacco Guizhou Industrial CO., Ltd. in Yexian County of north central China's Henan Province, and to improve the quality and safety of leaf tobacco products, the technology center of China Tobacco Guizhou Industrial Co., Ltd. officially launched in early 2012 the work of research of methods for growing strong aromatic organic tobacco in at the base units in Yexian County of Henan. Development of strong organic tobacco seedlings is not only a primary process of organic tobacco production, but is also part of the basic work to develop high-quality organic tobacco suitable for production. In order to develop strong organic tobacco seedlings, and eliminate external sources of pollution, the taskforce has executed the work of strengthening the management of organic tobacco seedlings development in the following three respects, strictly in accordance with the Program for Production Technology for the Project of Developing Strong Aromatic Organic Tobacco. As a result, the whole process of execution of the project has been "organic". Firstly, the taskforce has chosen China Tobacco 100 - a leading variety of tobacco grown in the strong aromatic tobacco production zone in Henan Province. Besides, it has also chosen bare seeds free from chemical treatment. Secondly, in the management of fertilizer application during the period of seedlings development, the taskforce has applied specialized liquid organic fertilizer brought from other Chinese regions instead of conventional chemical fertilizer for seedlings development. And thirdly, in the prevention and control of plant diseases and pests during the period of seedlings development, technicians with the taskforce have adopted multiple measures including physical prevention, agricultural prevention and biological prevention, strictly in accordance with the Measures for the Prevention and Control of Plant Diseases and Pests on Organic Tobacco, putting an end to the addition of external harmful factors in the period of seedlings development.
