China: News Media Focus on Modernization of Mode of Tobacco Production in Key County

Many news media including China Central Television, Yunnan Daily newspaper, Oriental Tobacco newspaper, China Reform newspaper and Managers Daily newspaper have focused on modernization of the mode of tobacco production in Luoping County – a key tobacco-growing area in southwest China's tobacco-producing Yunnan Province, making reports on exclusive subjects. So far in 2012, Luoping County has firmly seized tobacco production development opportunities brought about by the designation of the county as a national-level model county for mechanization in leaf tobacco production and also a model area for modernization of the mode of tobacco production. In accordance with the targets of "reducing the use of manpower, lowering the cost of production, and increasing efficiency", through strengthening of soil preparation, and by launching a series of priority operations including the operation of "Ten Major Projects", Luoping County has managed to improve the living conditions for all local tobacco growers, consolidate the basis for agricultural production and pave the way for farmers to grow tobacco in an easy and simple way.
