Andhra Leaf Prices Down as Auctions Open

On the opening day of flue-cured auction sales at the D.C. Palli and Kaligiri platforms of the Nellore district of Andhra Pradesh, growers were offered Rs110 per kg for F1 grade tobacco, down from Rs121 per kg on the first day of sales last year, according to a story in the latest issue of the BBM Bommidala Group newsletter. Andhra is estimated to have produced almost 164 million kg this season, for which the Tobacco Board had authorized the production of 162 million kg. Enditem
