Brazil Makes Up for US Flue-Cured Shortfall

The short nature of the 2011 US flue-cured crop might not affect world volume supplies, according to a report by Chris Bickers in the Tobacco Farmer Newsletter. Quoting Universal Leaf figures, Bickers said that the Brazilian flue-cured crop was estimated at more than 1.5 billion pounds. That would be the largest Brazilian crop since 2005 and would be 200 million pounds higher than what was initially forecast.
