Much Interest in Indian Leaf Source from: Tobacco Reporter 12/15/2011 Tobacco growers and merchants in India are waiting for government approval of a tender for the export of 6-8 million kg of leaf tobacco to Iran, according to a story in the latest issue of the BBM Bommidala Group newsletter.
Iran is said to be keen to import the leaf and ready to offer a good price.
The Tobacco Board of India disclosed recently that Egypt's state-managed tobacco company, Eastern Co, had placed a requisition for 20 million kg of tobacco from India.
In the meantime, Indian traders are anxiously looking out for signs of orders from China. Enditem
