China: Regional Companies Sign Pact on Establishment of Exclusive Bases

Hunan Provincial China Tobacco Industry Corporation in south central China's Hunan Province and Chongqing City Tobacco Monopoly Administration (Tobacco Company) in southwest China's Chongqing City have recently signed an agreement on strategic cooperation in establishment of units of exclusive high-quality leaf tobacco production bases in Chongqing in 2011-2015. Attending the signing ceremony were leaders from both sides in charge of bilateral strategic cooperation and leading officials and relevant personnel from the raw materials and technology departments of both sides. In the agreement, the two sides made it clear that efforts will be made to further raise the efficiency of distributing resources of exclusive high-quality leaf tobacco production bases between the two sides, and further strengthen the capacity of guaranteeing the supply of high-quality leaf tobacco, in promoting coordinated development of cigarette brands of Hunan Provincial China Tobacco Industry Corporation and high-quality leaf tobacco production by Chongqing City Tobacco Company. The two sides reached consensus on the expected quantity of leaf tobacco that can be supplied for Hunan Provincial China Tobacco Industry Corporation by Chongqing City Tobacco Company and planning for establishment of units of exclusive high-quality leaf tobacco production bases in the development of a modern tobacco agriculture in Chongqing City in the 2011-2015 five-year period. The two sides agreed to keep strengthening efforts to establish exclusive high-quality leaf tobacco production bases for competitive cigarette brands, keep enhancing the capacity of establishing and managing units of exclusive high-quality leaf tobacco production bases in the development of a modern tobacco agriculture in Chongqing, and ensure sustainable and healthy fulfillment of the work of establishing units of exclusive high-quality leaf tobacco production bases in Chongqing, in striving to develop a highly efficient high-quality leaf tobacco supply chain between the two sides. Before the signing ceremony, the two sides held talks to exchange views in an in-depth way on efforts to deepen bilateral cooperation in the establishment of units of exclusive high-quality leaf tobacco production bases, highly commenting on the favorable achievements made in joint efforts in the establishment of exclusive high-quality leaf tobacco production bases. They also exchanged views in an in-depth way on further improvement of the quality of leaf tobacco produced in Chongqing City, on improvement of the structure of leaf tobacco products of the city, etc. Enditem
