China: Success Made in Model Projects of Bulk Curing of Separate Leaf Tobacco Source from: TobaccoChina Online 08/29/2011 Baoshan City in southwest China's tobacco-producing Yunnan Province has achieved success in the operation of experimental model projects of bulk curing of separate leaf tobacco in Longyang and Tengchong Counties under its jurisdiction, after formulating rational plans for making experiments in light of the local realities of leaf tobacco production.
In comparison with conventional curing, bulk curing of separate leaf tobacco means to directly put leaf tobacco on the heating bed in a well-arranged order, without binding them together. As a result, each heating bed can take an extra 1,500 kg to 2,000 kg of fresh leaf tobacco, and each curing barn will be able to hold an extra 10 mu (0.67 hectare) of leaf tobacco.
Application of the model of bulk curing of separate leaf tobacco contributes to greatly reducing the cost of labor and lowering the intensity of labor on the part of local tobacco growers. Enditem
