China: Shanghai Tobacco Group Sends Delegation to Visit Brazil Source from: TobaccoChina Online 07/11/2011 Shanghai Tobacco Group – one of the leading tobacco manufacturers in China – sent a delegation to visit Brazil on June 4-13 to conduct on-site survey of leaf tobacco production, processing and trading, and to exchange views with local suppliers on leaf tobacco grading, quality control and market development.
During the stay in Brazil, the delegation visited the Brazil subsidiary of China Tobacco International Co., Ltd. to learn about its business of Brazil leaf tobacco trading, and conduct exterior appraisal and test-smoking of Brazil leaf tobacco purchased for the year 2011, to check its inherent quality.
The delegation, in light of the agreement of intent on leaf tobacco purchase reached at a leaf tobacco order fair held earlier in Brazil, conducted on-site inspection of sample leaf tobacco of all grades chosen, and conducted on-site comparison and test-smoking of some finished products, comprehensively evaluating the exterior and inherent quality of Brazil leaf tobacco of all grades ordered by Shanghai Tobacco Group.
The delegation, in light of the establishment and execution of Shanghai Tobacco Group's project of acquiring organic leaf tobacco, also visited organic leaf tobacco production facilities operated by Universal Tobacco in Brazil, to conduct on-site inspection of sample products and exchange views with the producer. The two sides preliminarily reached agreement of intent on organic leaf tobacco trade for the year 2011. Enditem
