China: Units of Quality Tobacco Production Base Pass Inspection for Technical Acceptance

The units of a high-quality leaf tobacco production base with local characteristics in a suburban area of Jianyang Town in Nanping City of southeast China's Fujian Province, established by Jiangsu Provincial China's Tobacco Industry Corporation in east China, smoothly passed mid-term evaluation and inspection on June 16-17 for technical acceptance by the State Tobacco Monopoly Administration (STMA) for the year 2011. During the evaluation and inspection, a panel of inspectors sent by the STMA, in accordance with the procedures for conducting on-site verification, holding talks and checking data, respectively went deep into two model areas and their experimental stations at units in the suburban area of Jianyang to inspect field growth of leaf tobacco, construction and operation of intensive curing barns, progress in the relevant support experiments and technological research conducted at units of the base; heard reports given by companies at the production zones, manufacturing enterprises involved and technological cooperation partners; and checked relevant data. The panel of inspectors fully affirmed the work of the units of the high-quality leaf tobacco production base, saying that the leaderships at all levels of the manufacturing enterprises, commercial enterprises and research institutes concerned all attached great importance, closely cooperated with one another, and conducted all work in a down-to-earth manner in the establishment of the units of the high-quality leaf tobacco production base. The inspectors also said that the units of the base have been scientifically planned, with outstanding ecological characteristics, that the units of the base are highly standard, that they boasts advantageous production conditions, and that the field growth of leaf tobacco there is favorable, with less pests and plant diseases, embodying a high level of management. Meanwhile, the inspectors also put forward suggestions and expressed hopes for further promoting development of the units of the base. Leaders with the raw materials supply department of Jiangsu Provincial China's Tobacco Industry Corporation and the relevant personnel for the establishment of the units of the base in Fujian Province were present in the whole course of evaluation and inspection for technical acceptance.
