Karnataka Sales End With Volume Up, Prices Down

The 2010-11 flue-cured auctions in Karnataka, which have now closed, saw the sale of more than 127.85 million kg against an authorized crop of 100 million kg, according to a story in the latest issue of the BBM Bommidala Group newsletter. This season's average price of Rs92.52 per kg was well down on the average for last season, Rs110.88 per kg. The highest bid this season was Rs149.00 per kg, whereas the highest bid last year was Rs155.80 per kg. About 40 overseas companies were represented at the Karnataka sales this season. Enditem
