Tobacco Products Exports Rise But Leaf Exports Down Source from: Tobacco Reporter 04/28/2011 The value of India's exports of tobacco and tobacco products during the 11 months to the end of February, at Rs37.28 billion, was down by 4.6 per cent, according to a story in the latest issue of the BBM Bommidala Group's newsletter.
Within this total, the value of exports of tobacco products increased by about 38 per cent to Rs9.29 billion while the value of leaf exports fell by more than 13 per cent to Rs27.99 billion.
By volume, leaf exports fell by over eight per cent from 204,000 tons to 187,000 tons.
The Tobacco Board of India attributed the decrease in exports to the level of production in Brazil and Zimbabwe. Enditem
