Tobacco Tax to Help Leaf-Producing Regions Source from: Tobacco Reporter 03/09/2011 The Philippines' Department of Budget and Management (DBM) has said that about P6.37 billion in tobacco-products excise taxes is starting to benefit farmers in tobacco-growing communities.
Under Philippines law, a certain amount of the revenue collected as tobacco-products excise is divided among leaf-growing provinces on the basis of volumes production.
The DBM assistant secretary, Carmencita Delantar, said the P6.37 billion owed by the national government had been disbursed to local government units producing Burley and native tobacco starting last year. Enditem
