Zimbabwe Farmer Murdered Source from: Tobacco Reporter 10/29/2010 One of Zimbabwe's most prominent white tobacco farmers has been murdered at his home, reports Peta Thornycroft for the Electronic Telegraph (UK).
Kobus Joubert, 67, was shot dead and his wife Mariana, 64, was assaulted by assailants who also robbed them of $10,000 in cash and a laptop.
The attackers accused the family of being members of Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai's Movement for Democratic Change, and Mike Clark, who monitors unrest on remaining white-owned farms for the Commercial Farmers' Union, said he was not sure at this time whether the murder was politically motivated.
It was a very sensitive matter for the Union's members, he added.
Joubert had about 50 ha (123 acres) of tobacco in the ground when he died. Enditem
