US Flue-Cured And Burley Production Down Source from: Tobacco Reporter 09/10/2010 Flue-cured production in the US this year has been projected at 454.2 million pounds, down 14 per cent from that of 2009, according to a story by Chris Bickers for the Modern Tobacco Grower, quoting US Department of Agriculture figures.
All flue-cured growing states will produce less this year than they did last year.
Burley production, meanwhile, is expected to reach 189 million pounds in 2010, down 12 per cent on that of 2009.
Most Burley growing states will produce less this year than they did in 2009, though production in Pennsylvania and Tennessee is up.
Production of fire-cured, dark air-cured, and Connecticut shade is down this year, but production of Southern Maryland, Pennsylvania seed-leaf and Connecticut broadleaf is up. Enditem
