Tanzania: Co-Ops Get Sh1.2 Billion Loans for Tractors

CRDB Bank has extended Sh1.2 billion loans to two cooperative unions. The money was spent on buying 20 tractors for Chunya and Manyoni tobacco farmers. CRDB Bank managing director Charles Kimei handed over the tractors to Chunya Tobacco Growers Cooperative Union [CHUTCU] in Dar es Salaam yesterday. Dr Kimei said the bank was committed to agriculture. "This scheme will greatly reduce the rigours of farming among the tobacco farmers and improve productivity in the two districts," CHUTCU chairman Sebastian Mogela, whose received the tractors. Enditem
