Shake-up in Bulgaria's Tobacco Fund Source from: Tobacco Reporter 02/01/2010 Bulgaria's Prime Minister, Boyko Borisov, said yesterday that he was going to replace the entire leadership of the country's Tobacco Fund, according to a Novinite story.
Tensions have been running high among tobacco growers over the payment of subsidies for 2009-crop tobaccos and they called off a mass protest rally planned for yesterday only after an 11th hour intervention by the prime minister.
The Tobacco Fund changes are set to be made in the next few weeks following a probe into the organization.
Borisov said he had agreed with tobacco producers that they should designate three representatives for appointment as members of the Fund's Monitoring Board. Enditem
