STMA Panel of Experts Inspects Leaf Tobacco Purchase by HongyunHonghe

A panel of "national-level technical experts" organized by the State Tobacco Monopoly Administration (STMA) - the regulator of China's tobacco industry - has recently conducted an on-site inspection of the work of leaf tobacco purchase from local tobacco growers by the HongyunHonghe Tobacco Group in southwest China's tobacco-producing Yunnan Province.

Before the inspection, Vice-President Li Heng of the HongyunHonghe Tobacco Group introduction to the experts the basic situation of leaf tobacco purchase by the group, and said that HongyunHonghe would do all it could to cooperate with the panel of experts in smoothly completing the work of inspection. Upon hearing the introduction, Yan Xinfu, chief of the panel of experts and deputy chief of the technological supervision division of the STMA's Department of Science and Technology, congratulated HongyunHonghe on winning a high score at the recent national leaf tobacco grading competition, and fully affirmed the achievements of the group in the development technical human resources over recent years. The panel of experts, accompanied by product quality inspectors with the competent administrative authorities of Yunnan Province, particularly checked the report on leaf tobacco purchase at the leaf tobacco purchase station in Kunming Cigarette Factory of the group. In accordance with data registered in the report, the panel of experts made a sample survey of purchased leaf tobacco at different areas and stacking bays, and made an arrangement for the relevant procedure of inspection. According to the arrangement, the panel of experts went deep into the designated areas to take samples one by one in accordance with the relevant coding, and conducted sample inspection in a concentrated way at the leaf tobacco distribution center of the group and the leaf tobacco purchase station in Qujing City - a key tobacco-growing area in Yunnan. As a result of concerted efforts by all parties concerned, the HongyunHonghe Tobacco Group smoothly passed the inspection of its leaf tobacco purchase for 2009, with the up-to-standard rate of leaf tobacco of all grades meeting the relevant quality inspection standards set by the STMA.
