Sales Close in Zimbabwe

Contract tobacco sales ended last week in Zimbabwe bringing the total amount of flue-cured sold to 56.5 million kg at an average price of US$3.00 per kg, according to a story in The Herald. Last season, 44.6 million kg were sold for an average price of US$3.24 per kg. Contract sales accounted for 72 per cent of the 2008/09 crop while the rest of the sales were shared among the country's three auction floors.
