Prices Down in Zimbabwe

Zimbabwe has so far earned US$102.7 million from the sale of 34.9 million kg of flue-cured at an average price of US$2.94 per kg since the marketing season started in May, according to a report in The Herald. During the same period of last year, 27.0 million kg of flue-cured were sold for an average price of US$3.16 per kg, earning US$85.5 million. The Tobacco Industry and Marketing Board's chief executive, Dr. Andrew Matibiri, said the board was optimistic of meeting the target of 42 million kg this sales season, which is due to close at the end of August.
