Zimbabwe to Plant 65,000 Ha

Zimbabwe is expecting to plant about 65,000 ha to tobacco this year, according a report in The Herald quoting the chief executive of the Tobacco Industry Marketing Board, Dr. Andrew Matibiri. The estimate, which is similar to the estimate made about 12 months ago, is based on seed sales. Last season, tobacco seed sales were good but a number of farmers failed to transplant because of shortages of inputs such as fertilizers, fuel and chemicals. Enditem
