Zimbabwe's Growers Turn to Illicit Market

The amount of tobacco that passes through Zimbabwe's official sales channels might fall by as much as 40 per cent to about 42 million kg, according to a report by Brian Latham for Bloomberg. Destitute farmers desperate for cash are said to be selling their leaf on the illicit market for as little as US$1 per kg, down from an average of US$3.20 per kg last year. Enditem
