India's Tobacco Exports Surge

Jan 12, 2009-The value of India's leaf tobacco and tobacco products exports rose by 68 per cent to Rs22.130 billion during the first eight months of the 2008-09 financial year on the back of better prices and the depreciation of the rupee, according to a Tobacco China Online report quoting the Press Trust of India. Leaf tobacco exports were valued at Rs18.302 billion during the April to November period under consideration, up from Rs9.766 billion during the equivalent period of 2007-08. Volume leaf tobacco and tobacco products exports from April to November last year were said to have been up by 20 per cent. Enditem
