Tobacco Plant Plans to Hire More Staff

A Rockingham County tobacco company is doing well despite the layoffs in North Carolina's manufacturing and agriculture industries. Officials at General Tobacco say their facility is now fully operational on all production lines, running three shifts a day. The company announced last year that it was moving to an old facility in the area after getting more than $2 million in grants from the city, county and state. The Miami-based cigarette manufacturer has 110 employees at its Mayodan plant, with plans to hire more workers on all three shifts. Enditem
