It's Almost Time for 2008 S.C. Tobacco Festival

Organizers say there will be fun for everyone at this year's South Carolina Tobacco Festival. Along with the usual fun, on the third weekend of September, The Greater Lake City Chamber of Commerce director, Rita Smith says this year's festival will have new and exciting events. "We have several new venders this year," Smith said. This year's festival will feature several new rides, including a swing ride, a pirate ship ride, a bungee jumping trampoline, an obstacle course and a slide. Another new activity is going to be carriage rides through downtown and historic Lake City. The horse-drawn carriage seats 10 people, she added. Smith said there will also be new entertainment this year, as Berkley Feagin and Mike McNeilly, the Ancient Cypress Guitar Duo, perform Saturday at 2 p.m. The duo plays a wide range of music, including Gospel, Blues, Celtic, Country, acoustic funk and original classics, according to a press release. "The pet parade is always such a hit," Smith said, explaining that many of the old favorites are also planned. Other events include a Street Dance Featuring the Band of Oz in Town Square on Friday Sept. 19, a parade, stage entertainment, children's pavilion, Lake City's Largest Yard Sale, street vendors, arts and crafts and other events on Sat. Sept. 20, and a golf tournament and Fly-in on Sun. Sept. 21. Enditem
