TOBACCO FARMER EYES CAR BUSINESS Source from: simcoereformer.ca 06/12/2008 A tobacco farmer is hoping a side business will help him make more money.
Farmer Randy Francke said he'd like to open a car detailing shop in the back of his barn, located on his property on Concession 3 south of Courtland. As well, the secondary business will include the ability for Francke to sell vehicles on his property.
Planner Scott Peck told council Tuesday night that the plan is, "not your typical sale of cars" and there would be no lot. Instead, Francke would repair cars and likely sell them through another means, such as the magazine Auto Trader.
"The scale of the business is such that it is compatible with, and unlikely to impact existing and surrounding agricultural uses," Peck said in his report, adding the main use of the property "will continue to be agriculture."
Council approved Francke's request to set up the secondary business. Enditem
