Wind Destroys Tobacco Barn

Assessing the Damage OWNERS PLAN TO REPLACE CENTURY-OLD STRUCTURE. Hail wasn't the only culprit Monday night. The storm's high winds took down a 100-year-old tobacco barn in the Dresden area. Owner Joanne Allossery,of Eberts Line, heard the news early Tuesday morning. She said a neighbour called her husband, who then went to have a look. "I'm like 'Oh my God,' " she said. "I've never seen anything like this before -- not in this area anyway." However, she called it fortunate that nobody was hurt because of the destruction. "This was one of our farms that we bought a couple of years ago," she said. "We just live down the road from it." The barn was made of wood and had no equipment inside. Allossery was unsure of the value of the structure. She said it could hold approximately eight acres of tobacco. "We're going to rebuild," she said. "We have no choice. "Maybe not at that location, I don't know. It's still up in the air right now." Enditem
