Further Delay in Zimbabwe Opening

The opening of Zimbabwe's 2008 flue-cured selling season looked likely to be delayed by at least another day because a number of farmers' grievances had still not been addressed, according to a report in The Herald. The selling season was delayed by a week from its original opening date of April 22 to April 29, but the issues raised by farmers were due to be discussed at a cabinet meeting only today. Farmers want an increase in the support price, a new exchange rate and the settlement of the outstanding foreign currency account shortfalls. Enditem
