Philippines' Rice Crisis Draws in Tobacco Farmers

Tobacco farmers in the Philippines are lining up behind the government to help solve the country's rice crisis, according to a report in The Philippine Star. Their plan is for 6,670 tobacco farmers to grow 16,675 tonnes of rice on 3,335 ha of tobacco land in the northern provinces. This will not be a first for many of the farmers, who have previously grown rice ahead of the tobacco season. Enditem
