Hubei Province Increases Leaf Tobacco Purchasing Price 28 Percent

China National Development and Reform Commission and State Tobacco Monopoly Administration order the tobacco industry to increase the purchasing price of leaf tobacco. And the Hubei Province will increase the price of cured leaf tobacco. After raising, the price of middle grade of virginia tobacco will raise to 640 yuan per dan from 500 yuan in Hebei Province, or up 28 percent; the price of middle grade of burley will raise to 430 yuan from 330 yuan, or 30.3 percent; the price of middle grade of oriental tobacco will raise to 500 yuan from 410 yuan, or 21.95 percent. The average price of three categories will increase 26.6 percent. In the past several years, the purchasing price of leaf tobacco was lower than production cost. The country increases the price will help farmers have a better life. According to the same purchasing volume of 2007 in Hubei Province, this year the farmers will get more than 164 million yuan from selling leaf tobacco. Enditem
