Sichuan Province Focus on Building High Quality Leaf Tobacco Production Base

On Feb. 28, Liu Qibao, provincial committee secretary of Sichuan, met with Jiang Chengkang, director of STMA. During the meeting, Liu said that Sichuan government makes efforts on improving the development of leaf tobacco industry. Sichuan will speed the development toward modern tobacco agriculture, and strengthen establishment of basic facilities, improve the quality of leaf tobacco, build national strategy leaf tobacco production base. Sichuan will build Jiaozi Brand into a national high quality cigarette brand. In next 3 to 5 years, Sichuan will change from a bigger leaf tobacco and cigarette province into a stronger leaf tobacco and cigarette province. In the near future, Sichuan tobacco industry production and taxes and profits will reach the target of 10 billion cigarettes or yuan respectively. Jiang said that STMA will provide supports on high quality leaf tobacco production base of Sichuan. Sichuan for its unique climate, can produce good leaf tobacco. It has become the important leaf tobacco production base of several famous brands, such as Chunghwa, Furongwang, Huanghelou, and Hongtashan. Enditem
