Nigeria Rejected Application For $80 Million Tobacco Plant Source from: By Obafemi Oredein; Contributing To Dow Jones Newswires 01/18/2008 Nigeria last year rejected an application by an unnamed foreign firm to establish a new $80 million tobacco plant in the country, the country's Health Minister Adenike Grange said Wednesday.
Grange said the decision was motivated by the government's determination to protect its people and safeguard their health.
The identity of the firm wasn't disclosed but the plant would have been situated in southwest Osun state, one of the leading cocoa-producing states in Nigeria. Enditem
