Tobacco Association Seeks Input Contractors Source from: herald.co.zw Herald Reporter 10/08/2007 The Zimbabwe Tobacco Association is looking for assistance from contractors to enable resettled farmers to secure farming inputs as well as others to enter into tobacco production.
Speaking at a meeting with tobacco resettled farmers from Zvimba last week, ZTA president Mr Andrew Ferreira said he would soon meet with farmers to report on the outcome of the negotiations.
"The secret to successful tobacco production is attention to detail and unlike maize, tobacco growers should be critical and do things timeously.
"Anyone can grow tobacco It is the curing and grading which require skills," he said.
Mr Ferreira said Zimbabwe had established a successful irrigated tobacco growing industry that had developed a niche market mainly in the East, with China being the most dominant buyer. Enditem
