Research Board Kicks Off Training Program Source from: tobaccoreporter.com Zimbabwe, Monday, June 18, 2007 06/19/2007 Zimbabwe's Tobacco Research Board has kicked off a nationwide educational campaign for tobacco farmers, reports The Herald.
"The aim is to improve on the production of the golden leaf as well as be able to export more of the product," the board said in a statement. The TRB said it had acquired technologically advanced equipment such as float trays for the production of tobacco seedlings, on which the farmers will be trained.
Following President Mugabe's controversial land redistribution program, many inexperienced farmers have entered the tobacco business, causing quality and volumes to suffer. Enditem
