British American Tobacco Experts Inspect Tobacco Production Bases in China

A team of experts from British American Tobacco conducted inspection over the exclusive high-quality leaf tobacco production and supply bases funded by the transnational tobacco company in Ningnan and Dechang Counties in Liangshan Prefecture in southwest China's tobacco-producing Sichuan Province on May 22-25. Accompanied by officials with the Production Technology Department of Liangshan Prefecture Tobacco Monopoly Administration, the team of experts went to three key villages in Ningnan and Dechang Counties in the prefecture to inspect the growing of tobacco and field management on the spot, elaborately asking officials with the local tobacco monopoly administrative authorities and local tobacco growers questions about transplantation of tobacco seedlings, application of fertilizer, prevention and control of pests and plant diseases, prevention of drought or flooding and preparation for leaf tobacco curing following harvest in the coming autumn. During the inspection, the experts expressed approval of the tobacco production and supply bases' adoption of measures of scientific planning, strengthening implementation, follow-up management, etc. In one of the villages, the experts also inspected comparative tests of different tobacco varieties, requiring workers to earnestly keep records and strengthen contacts with the relevant county-level tobacco monopoly administration and Liangshan Prefecture Tobacco Monopoly Administration, which doubles as Liangshan Prefecture Tobacco Company, etc, in coordinating efforts to do a good job of tests.
