Investing in Quality Leaf

An additional Yuan30 million will be spent this year on establishing production sites for high quality leaf tobacco in the Enshi district of the Hubei Province, according to a Tobacco China Online report quoting local sources. Last year, more than 20 Chinese tobacco manufacturers, including the Wuhan Tobacco Group, the Changde Cigarette Factory and the Hongta Group, invested Yuan18 million in establishing high-quality leaf tobacco production bases in Enshi; but now they want to boost production there. These newly-established production sites last year produced 38,000 tons of high quality leaf tobacco, about 83 per cent of the total leaf tobacco grown in the district.
