Hubei Seeks to Control Leaf Quality

The Hubei Provincial China Tobacco Industry Corp (HPCTIC) is trying to increase the quality of the leaf tobacco produced in its growing centers across China by becoming more involved in the control of the various aspects of tobacco development and production, according to local sources. Currently, HPCTIC, which has the capacity to produce annually more than 7.5 billion of its 'famous brand', Yellow Crane Tower cigarettes, needs an increasing supply of high-quality leaf to meet its production development targets. In line with a State Tobacco Monopoly Administration requirement, HPCTIC has established 16 exclusive leaf tobacco production centers in eight Chinese provinces or provincial-level regions. Enditem
