R.J. Reynolds Sells B&W's Macon Plant Source from: tobaccoreporter.com US, Tuesday, December 05, 2006 12/07/2006 R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. has sold the former Brown & Williamson cigarette manufacturing plant in Macon, Georgia, reports the Macon Telegraph.
The 1.4 million-square-foot plant has been sold for an undisclosed amount to a Kentucky holding company with assets in real estate, forestry and recreation. The company plans to market the property to potential tenants.
RJR bought B&W in 2004 and consolidated production in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. The Macon plant opened about 30 years ago and employed some 3,000 people at its peak. Enditem
