Wet Weather Worries Kentucky Growers Source from: tobaccofarmquarterly.com Oct. 30, 2006 11/01/2006 Kentucky tobacco farmers are reporting above average tobacco quality but are still concerned that wet weather during the growing season might have affected weight and increased humidity during stripping, according to the latest Kentucky crop and weather report from the USDA.
As of Oct. 29, 24 percent of burley tobacco had been stripped, slightly ahead of last year, but behind the average. Stripped tobacco was rated 3 percent poor, 28 percent fair, 52 percent good and 17 percent excellent. Enditem
