Show Aims to Encourage Younger Farmers

The Mid-Atlantic Farm Show is working with a number of resources to create scholarships and seminars that focus on agricultural industry-related careers in an effort to keep populating U.S. farms with younger generations of farmers. Educational opportunities are being offered to 9th-12th grade students interested in agriculture, aquaculture, forestry, equine and animal husbandry, horticulture, landscaping, turf management, viticulture, farm and heavy equipment maintenance and other related industries and technologies. College and professional organizations will host recruiting booths throughout show hours and will also provide additional seminars and roundtables on a variety of careers and hot topics in the industry. Schools or individuals must register to participate in the education sessions. Scholarships are also available for current high school seniors. Criteria, applications and registration forms can be obtained at www.midatlanticfarmshow.com. The Mid-Atlantic Farm Show is moving to Concord, N.C., for the first time and will be held Nov. 2-4, 2006, at the Cabarrus Arena and Events Center. Enditem
