Taboka Launches 'Adjacent Growth Strategy' Source from: tobaccoreporter.com Monday, July 17, 2006 07/18/2006 In launching Taboka this month, Philip Morris USA is taking the first step in executing its 'adjacent growth strategy,' the company said on Friday.
This strategy looks at potential moves into complementary tobacco or tobacco-related products or processes that would allow the company to use its existing core infrastructure elements to grow beyond cigarettes.
Taboka, a smoke-free, spit-free tobacco pouch product being test-marketed in Indianapolis, has been designed for adult smokers interested in smokeless tobacco alternatives to smoking. It comes in two versions: Original and Taboka Green, a menthol version.
Manufactured in PM's plant at Richmond, Virginia, Taboka uses pasteurized US-grown tobacco and does not need to be refrigerated.
PM says that it is test marketing Taboka so as to gauge adult smoker acceptance of this new product. Enditem
