Vintage Cigar Auction Puts Pre-Embargos On The Block

A box of 250 pre-Cuban embargo Romeo y Julieta Invencibles. A box of 25 Cohiba Lanceros Presidencias, a special packaging from 1988. A box of 10 Dunhill Estupendos.

Those cigars are just a few of the highlights from the upcoming winter auction at C.Gars Ltd, one of the leading tobacconists in London. The live auction will be held at 2 p.m. on November 30 at the Bulgari Hotel in Knightsbridge. Online bidding for the 359 lots began this week; the lots can be viewed online at onlinecigarauctions.com.

This is the 16th cigar auction held by C.Gars Ltd, which is one of the few establishments in the world still conducting vintage cigar auctions.

The line-up of pre-embargo cigars is particularly strong for the auction. Besides the 250 Romeo y Julieta Invencibles, which have an estimated selling price of between $41,550 to $49,100, the lots include a humidor of 50 Montecristo No. 1 cigars ($8,300 to $9,100), a Ramon Allones Club Cabinet of 100 cigars ($15,000 to $18,000) and a Flor de Allones Director's Choice, 50 cigars valued at $9,800 to $11,300.

There is also an extensive line-up of Cohiba cigars, starting with the Lanceros Presidentes, which have a special label. There are 36 Cohiba lots in total, with two Siglo X anniversary humidors (one has a partial collection of the 90 original cigars), four boxes of Cohiba Esplendidos, two of them from 1991. There are three boxes of the Cohiba Siglo VI Gran Reservas. Enditem
