Quesada Oktoberfest Events In Full Swing

Disappointed that you were unable to travel to Munich for this year's Oktoberfest, Germany's famous celebration of beer? Well don't burn your lederhosen just yet, because Quesada Cigars is offering the next best option: a series of cigar-friendly events featuring German food and beer as well as the company's new Nicaraguan Oktoberfest cigars.

The Quesada Oktoberfest tour, which will span much of the United States, actually began at the start of September but has kicked into full gear now that the German fete has officially started. Each event is hosted by a cigar shop that sets up a spread of authentic German fare and, of course, beer. In particular Märzen-style beers, which the Oktoberfest cigar line is intended to be paired with.

"Some stores also partner with local brewers who make their own Oktoberfest," said Terence Reilly of Quesada Cigars, who is currently in Massachusetts and will continue to be on the road for the bulk of the tour, which unlike Germany's celebration, extends into November.

According to Reilly, attendees of an Oktoberfest event will have the chance to receive a beer stein branded with the Quesada Oktoberfest logo as well as lighters and ashtrays. Eventgoers will also have the opportunity to taste a Dominican Oktoberfest that was rolled in 2013, in addition to the two new limited-edition Nicaraguan Oktoberfests that debuted this year.

Double Bock

The new limited-edition Nicaraguan Oktoberfests, which were rolled at Plasencia Cigars in Nicaragua, come in two sizes: Das Brauhaus, which measures a stout 4 1/2 inches by 60 ring gauge, and Double Bock, a 7 by 47 classic Churchill.

Both of the Nicaraguan Oktoberfests puros are covered by the same wrapper, a high-priming, Cuban-seed leaf grown in Nicaragua's Jalapa Valley. However, the internal tobaccos differ. Das Brauhaus includes a Nicaraguan Cuban-seed viso binder from Estelí and a filler combination of Cuban-seed ligero from Estelí and Condega. In turn, Double Bock features a Cuban-seed viso binder from Jalapa, with a filler blend of seco (which is a higher-priming leaf than viso) from Ometepe and ligeros cultivated from Estelí and Condega.
