Official Import of Tobacco Products Increasing in Kyrgyzstan

Official import of tobacco products is increasing in Kyrgyzstan, the National Coordinator of Ministry of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic on Tobacco Control Chynara Bekbasarova said today at a press conference.

According to her, according to the National Statistics Committee, the market of the country received 8 billion 300 million pieces of tobacco in 2014, which is significantly higher than in the previous year.

"This can be explained by the fact that because of the increase of excise taxes in the country, tobacco production was closed and there was competition from the products of Kazakhstan and Russia, for which is more favorable to buy excise stamps from us because they are cheaper," she said.

"In this connection we should ask questions to the fiscal authorities to adjust the flow of imports of tobacco products into the country," Chynara Bekbasarova said. Enditem
