Nicaragua Hosting Cigar Festival

The dates for the fourth annual Nicaraguan cigar festival are now officially set and registration is open as well.

Puro Sabor, the annual celebration of Nicaragua's premium handmade cigar industry, will take place from January 14 to 17 next year. The festival is organized by the Nicaraguan Association of Tobacco Producers, which is a group of tobacco growers and cigar manufacturers founded in 2007.

Cigar enthusiasts, retailers and manufacturers from around the world will gather in Managua on January 14 for a gala opening dinner atop the Crowne Plaza Hotel's terrace, a landmark building for the capital city. Festival participants will then make their way to Estelí where they will have the opportunity to visit factories, and on the third day, event goers will be able to navigate the region's famous tobacco fields. A closing gala dinner will feature an auction, with benefits going to the preservation of the Estelí River Basin.

"Our county is internationally recognized for producing the best cigars in the world, thanks to our rich volcanic soil, ideal climate conditions and decades of hard work and experience," said Nestor Plasencia, president of the Nicaraguan association. "Puro Sabor is a unique opportunity to visit one of the most exotic countries in the world, enjoy its best products, smoke our best cigars, and come together with us, the ones who make it all happen."
