<strong>China: Shandong Qingdao Distributes Free Quit Smoking Drugs to Smokers  for First Time</strong>

On the morning of 9 August, Shandong Qingdao tobacco dependence disease management program (pilot) quit smoking drugs first issuing ceremony was held in Laoshan district community health center. More than 80 people received free drugs in this drugs distribution.

According to Lu Sheyu, one worker of Laoshan district center for disease control, introduced that this quitting activity mainly combined drug therapy with health education. Patients were gave quit drugs, and they needed to be test the CO, and to be check and register the nicotine level in the blood, and established a smoking cessation health file. After eating all the drug of the first time, then patients will be check the corresponding inspections, and the project worker will compare test results before and after eating quit drugs to see whether patients quit smoking or not. During this period, there will be a free class in three different times, and patients must chose one time to listen the lecture, which to help patients to stop smoking.

This is the first time for Qingdao district to use drugs to quit smoking. Since the project was kicked off from July 13, more than 600 smokers came to consult, and 531 smokers suffered tobacco dependence disease and can be cured by drugs. Enditem
